Doggy Day Care and Professional Grooming

Your dog will love the large open spaces at Sharna’s doggy daycare located in Sockburn, Christchurch

  • Great indoor and outdoor spaces for play
  • All dogs are free to roam between our indoor and outdoor spaces and choose their own favourite spots
  • Plenty of toys and interaction with our dog care team and volunteers
  • Sharna’s Dog Care welcomes dogs from across Christchurch, the wider Canterbury region and beyond

When you can’t play with your dog let our dog sitters do it for you

If you have to work or be away from home during the day, then it can be hard to leave your dog at home alone. Instead, bring them along to our doggy daycare and let them have fun while you can’t be with them.

Doggy daycare gives your dog the chance to socialise with other dogs of all breeds and sizes under careful supervision as well as having human interaction during the day. If you have a puppy, daycare is an even better idea as it gets your dog used to other animals and used to being handled early on. This makes your puppy easier to look after and stops them from picking up unwanted habits like excessive barking or chewing from being bored at home.

If you would like to book in to our daycare we are conveniently located in Sockburn. We welcome dogs and their owners from across Christchurch and can also accommodate clients from out of town like Kaikoura, Blenheim, Ashburton or Timaru who are visiting Christchurch. Instead of leaving your dog at home or stuck in the car while you run errands – bring them along to us instead.

Plus all dogs who come to us for grooming go into the draw for Sharna’s Dog of the Month and win a free bath in our dog grooming parlour. All our dogs also receive a free natural treat on departure which our furry friends just love.

Why choose Sharna’s Dog Care to look after your dog?

If your dog is a cherished member of your family then you will want to know they are safe and looked after when you are not at home. When you choose Sharna’s doggy daycare your dog will enjoy:

  • Lots of space – There are no cages at Sharna’s Dog Care. All our dogs roam freely in the indoor and outdoor areas.
  • Lots of toys and stimulation – Our centre is well stocked with all kinds of dog toys from chew toys and balls to tunnels and paddling pools. We have a paid supervisor each day and volunteers who all love spending time playing with the dogs in our care.
  • Wide range of dogs – We welcome all breeds and sizes of dogs so your pet will have a wide range of other dogs to play and socialise with.

And you benefit from:

  • Flexible times – Our daycare tries to be as flexible as possible to accommodate your needs. If you are booking your pet in for dog grooming then we can book daycare as well if it works better for you.
  • Competitive prices – We know that costs can mount up when you have a pet so we aim to keep our prices competitive.
  • A happier dog – When your dog attends our daycare they will have the chance to socialise and learn how to be around other dogs. This usually makes them calmer when you walk them or take them to dog parks as they know how to behave. It is also better for your dog to be with dog sitters than being at home all day by themselves.

Grooming can detect other issues before they become bigger issues. During grooming, we will handle your dog carefully. This means we get to know how your dog feels and acts and can help to detect any potential issues with skin, ears, eyes or teeth. Grooming also removes potential problems such as grass seeds or dirt that could cause infections.

Grooming gets your pet used to being handled. Being handled by an experienced dog handler like a groomer can help to get your pet used to being handled by people and make them easier to handle at home.

Book a trial stay for your dog

Before your dog comes to us on a regular basis we ask that you book them in for a trial half day session. Not all dogs are suited to dog daycare and, unfortunately, we do sometimes have to turn dogs away. For example, if your dog barks constantly we cannot allow them to stay.

During the trial period your dog will be closely monitored and spend time with our staff so they become comfortable.

Once your dog has had a successful trial, we recommend that they do not attend for more than three days each week to avoid overstimulation.

For more information or to book a trial, get in touch.
